Headline checker
Check a title for an X Article, a LinkedIn article or a newsletter. You get its length, a rough search-result preview and plain wording checks.
How to use it
- Type your article or newsletter title.
- See how it might look in a search result.
- Work through the checks.
Length
Search engines usually show around 60 characters of a title before cutting it, though they measure pixel width rather than characters, so treat the preview as a guide. Link previews on X and LinkedIn cut long titles too. Put the words that matter first.
Wording
Titles that say exactly what the reader gets ("How we cut onboarding from 14 steps to 3") tend to be trusted more than teasers ("You won't believe what happened"). Sentence case, where only the first word and names take capitals, is standard in British publishing.
