Why strip emoji?
Screen readers announce each emoji by its full name, so a line of them can take longer to hear than the post itself. Rows of emoji bullets are also a common sign of AI-generated posts. Numbered keycaps such as 1️⃣ keep their digit, so numbered lists still make sense.
On X, most emoji count as two characters, so removing them also frees up space.
