    Alt text checker

Alt text lets people using screen readers know what's in your image. Write your description and check it for length and the most common mistakes.

    How to use it

    1. Look at your image and write what it shows.
    2. Paste the description here.
    3. Fix any warnings, then add it to your post's image description field.

    Where to add it

On X, add a description from the image editor before you post: descriptions can be up to 1,000 characters. On LinkedIn, use the alternative text option when you add an image.

    Writing good alt text

    • Describe what matters in the image for this post, not every detail.
    • If the image contains text, include the text.
    • For a chart, give the takeaway ("Sign-ups doubled between May and June").
    • Skip "image of": screen readers already say it's an image.
